... and finally a reliable way to block files from your network Whilst we believe that one can save a lot of network traffic and disk space by automatically zipping attachments, we are certain that you can save much more traffic by preventing particular files form being attached and thus sent and stored at all.
MarvelZip allows you to easily block files by, for example, the type of file that is to be attached or even detached. Instead of just deriving the file type from a filename's extension (e.g. *.exe), MarvelZip derives the type of a file from its contents. Thereby, renaming an .exe file to a .txt file won’t circumvent your rules.
MarvelZip comes with more than one-hundred readymade so called fingerprints - also referred to as magic numbers. There's a vivid community out there, too, maintaining and creating new fingerprints. And here's a list of fingerprints available from out of the box with MarvelZip (abstract):

MD5 hashes created for exactly one particular file (as opposed to blocking all files of a particular type), e.g. CHRISTMAS.EXE or EASTEREGG.COM
... and blocking criteria can be freely defined and combined, such as, for example
Block all files that are larger than 4 MB
Block all .exe and .dll files
Block all MPG files that are larger than 1 MB
Note: you can easily create both your own fingerprints and MD5 hashes with MarvelZip.
