panagenda Developer Interview – Christian Böhm
This series of blogs should introduce our products to you from the perspective of those closest to them, their developers, product managers and consultants. Statistics and features are available on the product pages of our website but who is actually behind them? Today it is my pleasure to introduce Christian to you!
What does your role require you to do?
My name is Christian and I’m one of the main developers for ApplicationInsights (AI). AI is not only my main focus in my daily work life but was also my very first project since starting at panagenda. As such I put both my know-how but also my heart into this product. I hope this shows and that the customers will benefit as a result.
What does your typical day at work look like?
My typical workday begins with a healthy breakfast and a quick glance at the world news. I then do my very best to ensure my to dos are finished, which mostly comprise of my beloved software developing tasks. Occasionally I discuss really serious matters with my boss or my colleagues. For example, when I try to advertise a brand-new framework or when we discuss which video game is the very best. Btw: it’s CS:GO.
On what idea is ApplicationInsights based?
We want to provide detailed information about IBM Notes/Domino databases through clear perspectives ranging from the very tiniest detail to the picture as a whole as well as identifying potentials and weaknesses. The idea is to provide all of this within one great product customized to individual needs.
What challenges had to be overcome during development?
The most challenging part was to move from a vision to a product that customers want and need. We realize those things we see as important but in the end feedback from actual customers and users is the key to a successful, and most of all meaningful, product.
Who benefits from using ApplicationInsights?
Company’s IT departments, their management and in the end: the company’s wallet.
Can you describe what this product does as an analogy to the hotel industry?
The dashboard is like the lobby. Beautiful, inviting and allows your imagination, of what else this hotel will offer, to run wild. Then there are the different rooms. Some of them small and comfortable with information about your IBM environment. Others are the supreme suits with glamorous and extensive information. The custom insights part is very exclusive to our hotel: it lets you customize the hotel in a way that you see fit!
What can we expect from ApplicationInsights in the future?
You can expect that we keep expanding and improving ApplicationInsights by continuing to listen to those who are using it. Our users feedback and wishes will be heard and we will do our best to provide the optimum solution for it.
What optimizes your day?
My daily competitions in billiard with my lovely colleagues and my coffee-break chats. And yes: I’m that espresso guy in the office. Don’t judge! 😊
