Summary: In this video panagenda COO Henning Kunz shows you how to change several default passwords for specific accounts in iDNA Applications appliances.

After installing iDNA Applications from the template, default passwords will be set for some accounts.

These credentials are documented in the setup guide.

Changing the Default Password of the Root User of the centOS Appliance (via Terminal)

To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Open a PUTTY session to the machine.

To learn more about PUTTY and how to use it to access the machine, refer to this article.

  2. Log in as root using the password given in the setup guide.
  3. To change the password, use the passwd command. You will be prompted to type in (and retype) a new password.

Be aware that panagenda does NOT have any backdoor user to help you out in case you lose your custom root password.

Changing the Password to Access the VNC Server (via Terminal)

To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Open a PUTTY session to the machine.
  2. To change the password, use the vncpasswd command. You will be prompted to type in (and retype) a new password. PUTTY will also ask you if you want to set the password as view-only.

We recommend changing the password for security reasons, as these are documented in our setup guides.

Changing the WebGUI Administrator Password (via Browser)

To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Open a browser and then the appliance by entering its IP address.
  2. Log in as config (default user). You will find the password in the setup guide.
  3. When you are logged in, click on Settings > System configuration. This will take you to the second web application. Here, log in with the same credentials.
  4. Click on Advanced Settings > Users and groups.
  5. Scroll down to Change Password and change the password and click on Update.
