Take a look at frequently asked questions about MC for Nomad - we may have already answered your questions!

Do you have any demos of MarvelClient on Nomad?

Yes, we have several webinars to help you understand what MarvelClient on Nomad can do, and how to get started:

MarvelClient and HCL Nomad – a match made in heaven
HCL Nomad and MarvelClient: Bringing it down to earth
Nomad For Web Browsers and MarvelClient: A Match Made in Heaven

I don't see the HCL Nomad options in my Config database

The header area of the action forms should have icons like this for the various HCL Nomad platforms:

If you don't see the Browser, iOS, or Android options, it's time to update your Config DB. See our page on Updating MarvelClient for instructions on how to get the latest templates.

Why don't my Location and Connection actions run on HCL Nomad?

The HCL Nomad clients use Location and Connection documents a little differently than HCL Notes desktop clients. For example, Location names are hardcoded and there is no option to switch locations in the client. As a result, any existing Location and Connection actions in your Config DB will not run on Nomad platforms by default.

While you can edit the Location and Connection actions in the Config DB and manually select one of the HCL Nomad platforms, be careful! Some of the standard Notes client settings are not applicable to HCL Nomad, and they might cause problems with startup or connectivity.

For Location documents specifically, we also recommend that you use the new Nomad Location action that you can find in the Nomad menu of the latest Config database. This has a simplified set of options, and it will automatically find and modify the correct Location document for Nomad clients.

How is MarvelClient licensed for HCL Nomad iOS and Android?

HCL Nomad iOS and Android have special MarvelClient licenses that contain the features available in our Essentials and Basic licenses, plus special Nomad actions for managing Recent Apps and App Restrictions.

An easy to read list of Essentials and Basic features is on this page: Comparison of MarvelClient Essentials vs. MarvelClient Basic

There are a few actions that are not currently applicable to HCL Nomad iOS and Android because of platform limitations, regardless of license. These are:

  • Bookmarks
  • Recent Contacts
  • Registry Management
  • Toolbar
  • Compact Desktop
  • Location Settings (the ability to switch locations at startup)
  • Replicator Pages
  • Status Bar

How is MarvelClient licensed for HCL Nomad Web?

The default MarvelClient license for HCL Nomad Web only includes features available in our Essentials license.

As with HCL Nomad iOS and Android, this also includes Recent Apps and App Restrictions, but it does not include:

  • Registry Management
  • Smart Downloader
  • Compact Desktop
  • Location Settings (the ability to switch locations at startup)

Customers who already have a MarvelClient Basic license will also get the MarvelClient Basic features on MarvelClient for Nomad Web!

An easy to read list of Basic features is on this page: Comparison of MarvelClient Essentials vs. MarvelClient Basic

Again, as with Nomad iOS and Android, there are a few Basic actions that are not currently available on HCL Nomad Web due to platform restrictions. These are:

  • Bookmarks
  • Recent Contacts
  • Registry Management
  • Toolbar
  • File Deployment
  • File Operation
  • Replicator Pages
  • Status Bar

What about Nomad Web Roaming?

For the MarvelClient for Nomad Web 1.0.1 release, we wanted to focus on core MarvelClient features and make sure we got those right.

Roaming is a complex topic, and it is planned for a near future release of MarvelClient for Nomad Web. Stay tuned!

And if you want to see a sneak peek of what we have planned for Nomad Web roaming, please watch our webinar: Nomad For Web Browsers and MarvelClient: A Match Made in Heaven
