HCL has announced the release of HCL Notes and Domino 11.0.1 FP8 (Fix Pack 8) on August 30, 2023. This Fix Pack is highly recommended for all customers who are not yet running a newer release. The FP8 is a collection of low-risk, high-impact fixes designed to help users avoid known issues. It addresses a small percentage of defects that have the most significant impact on a broad range of customers.

However, we don’t stop there; we wholeheartedly advocate for upgrading directly to the 32-bit version of 12.0.2 FP2, taking experiences to new heights and providing numerous enhancements.

Key Highlights of HCL Notes and Domino 11.0.1 FP8

This Fix Pack addresses defects in both the HCL Notes Client and the Domino Server, covering all feature components.

It contains 32 fixes documented in the HCL fix list, plus 5 Sametime fixes, of which the latter can only be found in the HCL Notes and Domino 11.0.1 Release Notes. Therefore, the following is worth mentioning:

Security Fixes

11.0.1 FP8 contains 1 security fix. The count of security updates is notably higher if you are not yet on Fix Pack 7, but an earlier release. If you’re curious about the cumulative number of fixes relative to your specific Notes version, the Domino Security Updates tool at Preemptive (preemptive.com.au) is a valuable resource to explore.

RJTOBLWNAE Fix allows customers to configure same site cookie attribute on Domino auth session cookies (LPTA and/or Domino Single Server auth cookies)

Sametime Fixes

Some of the fixes in 11.0.1 FP8 pertain to the embedded Sametime, such as issues with duplicate messages, the ESC key function in group chats, and notification sounds for DND users in group chats:

SAME-48534 Duplicate messages are receiving, when partner is in offline with NO chat history

Good to Know

  1. Purpose of Fix Packs: Fix Packs are released periodically between main releases to enhance the stability of customer environments. They undergo rigorous testing to identify and rectify regressions and interoperability issues before being released. They are cumulative, meaning they contain all fixes from previous packs, and are language-independent.
  2. Previous Releases: For reference, HCL Notes/Domino 11.0.1 was initially released on March 31, 2020. Subsequent Fix Packs were released on various dates, with the most recent being Fix Pack 7 on March 20th, 2023.
  3. Important Notes on Fix Packs: Starting from Notes/Domino 10.0.1, HCL has been releasing frequent Fix Packs to enhance the quality of deployed releases. These packs include updates from previous FPs, proven hot fixes, selected high-quality fixes, and security patches. However, they do not introduce new features unless they are disabled by default. They also exclude translation fixes and template changes that might conflict with language kits.
  4. Download Information: To install the Fix Pack, version 11.0.1 is a prerequisite. Starting from HCL Notes/Domino 10.0.1 Fix Pack 3, downloads have been made available directly from HCL.

Download Resources

You can download Fix Pack 8 through the familiar HCL Flexnet route. However, HCL has recently introduced a new download portal where the Fix Pack is also available. This new portal offers faster download speeds and a much more user-friendly interface.
